Did you know today is #onebostonday? Certainly a d Did you know today is #onebostonday? Certainly a day we’ll never forget. It’s the 8th anniversary of the Boston Marathon Bombings.

Today we received this email from a proud mother who sent this over because her 15 year old son thought we might want to post it in honor of One Boston Day.

Well he was right! This painting is beautiful and we’re proud to post this masterpiece in recognition of this special day.

“Hi my son Rohan is a big fan of the paintbar and has kept himself occupied throughout the pandemic by doing your online classes. He drew this and I would like to share...thank you.”

Thank you Rohan for reminding us of the strength our city of Boston has.

Do you remember where you were on April 15th, 2013? We were downtown, but luckily not by the finish line.

Where were you?

How do you feel about the word “Create”? Does How do you feel about the word “Create”?

Does it make you feel excited? Terrified? Inspired? Overwhelmed?

Sometimes it's so easy to create... and sometimes it feels impossible.

One of the number one questions we get asked is "how do we create our paintings?"

Well... we're lucky to be located in Boston where we get four seasons! So just when people get sick of one season, another is just around the corner.

We also create different paintings for different holidays - and some years we even consider Van Gogh's birthday a holiday to be celebrated.

Trends come and go, and we try our best to keep up with what is cool in the moment. However, like everything, what's cool one year could be a dud the next.

As artists, we create paintings, cross our fingers and hope people sign up!

If it's a hit we definitely do a happy dance!

And if it's a dud, we make 70,000 excuses why nobody liked the painting and then move on.

Sometimes all it takes is a canvas and paint brush to create something magical, while other days we need a 24 pack of colorful sharpies to feel inspired. (Nothing is better then a brand new pack of sharpies... am I right??)

Whether you're an artist or not, what do you need to inspire you to create your magic?
How is your Thursday so far? Would it be even bett How is your Thursday so far? Would it be even better if we shared a tip about blending? Well, here it is!

When painting, avoid that muddy brown or not knowing what color to start with by blending warm toned colors with warm toned colors and cool toned colors with cool toned colors.

If you’re just starting to paint, this is a great way to approach a painting. It may seem obvious to some, but for those who have no idea where or how to start, it’s the perfect way to help you break down and organize your color choices.

In the painting above, our background is made by blending cool toned colors (blues, greens and purples), while our flower is made by blending our warm toned colors (reds, oranges and yellows... and a little bit of pink 😉).

Want us to teach you this painting virtually? Sign up for a virtual link for THIS Saturday 3/27 at 1:30pm ET and we’ll send you a supply list and walk you through every step of the painting.

We know this isn’t the most glamorous Instagram We know this isn’t the most glamorous Instagram video... but this is the reality of what the studio (turned into shipping warehouse) looks like when we have to get 100 kits out the door with a baby on board 😆.

Just thought you’d all enjoy a little behind the scenes sneak peak at the chaos.

And when you open your kits, we hope you know that they were all hand packaged with so much love 😘 😘 😘.
